Established in 1980 by Georgena Pasquinelli, Von Zurich Bernese Mountain Dogs is operated in the San Francisco Bay Area. She first fell in love with the breed after rescuing her first Berner, Zurich, from a friend who had imported the dog from Switzerland.
After Zurich, she went back to Switzerland and brought home two puppies, Leo and Lars. The sire of the these puppies was to become the champion and international champion,
INT CH VDH CH DANY VD KATZENSTIEGFLUH.
Georgena saw that the dogs bred in the USA in the early 1980's were not to the standards of the dogs from Switzerland and set on a path to breed Bernese Mountain Dogs to Swiss standards.
Although her goal is to breed family companion dogs, she has raised an International champion, a Domestic champion, and has trained a service dog. All dogs tested for CGC (Canine Good Citizenship Test) have passed.
All her dogs are vet checked and tested before considering them for a breeding dog. The results are posted on BernerGarde.org.
Her dogs are sold only to screened applicants who meet a rigorous but casual process.
